During the rehearsal of one of Anton Bruckner's symphonies one day, the conductor Karl Richter called out to Bruckner from the podium: "F or F sharp?" Beaming with pleasure, Bruckner jumped to his feet and replied: "Whichever you like, Herr Kapellmeister! Go on, go on!"
