Threepenny Actor

After high school, Samuel L. Jackson went to Morehouse College with the intention of becoming an oceanographer. Still battling with a childhood stutter, he also enrolled in some speaking classes.

One day a speech professor offered extra credit to students who agreed to appear in a production of "The Threepenny Opera." Jackson auditioned, was given a role -- and had soon changed his major.

[Jackson (whose Samuel L. Jackson Celebrity Golf Classics have raised millions for charity) had a "Jackson clause" inserted into many of his contracts, guaranteeing him at least three rounds of golf per week while on location.]
