One day during the production of Mark Rydell's bank heist comedy caper Harry and Walter Go to New York, a scene was shot at a Pennsylvania penitentiary. Given the danger, the film's producers were understandably concerned.

"If they get James Caan," David Begelman instructed, "stall and negotiate. If they get Michael Caine, stall and negotiate. If they get Elliott Gould or Diane Keaton or Charles Gurning stall and negotiate..."

And if they got Rydell? "Stall... until we find a new director."
