Parlor Game

While visiting a country home one year, Randolph Churchill was reluctantly called away from an excellent book to take part in a fashionable Victorian thought-reading parlor game.

Having blindfolded him, Randolph's hostess guided him into the middle of the drawing room. "Don't resist your thoughts," she said. "Just do exactly as you feel."

Stepping forward, he grabbed her and gave her a long kiss -- and was promptly allowed to return to his reading.
