From Hell

Despite the success of such Hughes brothers films as Dead Presidents and Menace II Society, many Hollywood producers doubted the team's ability to make the leap from "black movies" and shoot a film (From Hell) set in Victorian England.

Albert Hughes was understandably insulted. "Spielberg can do E.T.," he railed one day, "and nobody will ask if he went to space!"

["Whenever we were hanging out on the set (in Prague), they were always playing hip-hop," Heather Graham once recalled. "We'd be in our elaborate period costumes, and they'd be pumping out Jay-Z!"]
