After being ripped off by his manager (a man fittingly named Artie Ripp), Billy Joel suggested that his wife assume the management of his career. "You know how dumb musicians can be," he told her, "and you've been hanging around me long enough."
She agreed and Joel was delighted. "I figured this would be the first case," he explained, "of 'Artist Screws Manager'!"
[Joel later got screwed by, fired, and divorced her, before hiring, firing, and suing her brother.]
