Bachelor

The pianist Oscar Levant once attended a dinner party to which the playwright and theatrical producer Moss Hart had also been invited. Though he eventually married, Hart remained a Clooneyesque bachelor for many years.

Levant, who arrived first, was amused to see Hart make a grand entrance with the beautiful actress Edith Atwater on his arm. "Ah, here comes Moss Hart," he quipped, "and the future... Miss Atwater."

[Levant later called his hug with Judy Garland "the greatest pharmacological embrace in history."]
