One day while interviewing a young man for a job with the Paris Herald, James Bennett began to squirm with discomfort -- before suddenly pulling a bundle of banknotes from his rear pocket and tossing them into the fire.
The astonished candidate immediately sprang from his chair and retrieved them. "Give them to me," Bennett demanded, before returning the notes to the fire. "That's where I want them to be."
