Ronald Firbank, hoping to have his portrait painted by the famed Augustus John, summoned a taxi to drive him to the artist's studio. On the ride over, however, but became rather unnerved by the prospect of having to introduce himself. His solution? The driver was sent up to introduce his client and explain his business -- while Firbank himself sat blushing inside his cab.
