One evening during the production of The Cowboys, John Wayne and director Mark Rydell got together for a few rounds of tequila at a local bar. Wayne excused himself to visit the washroom.

When the actor returned, Rydell could not help but notice that one side of his pants was sopping wet. "Oh, this always happens to me," Wayne explained: A fan, it seemed, had turned to him at the urinal and exclaimed: "You're John Wayne!"
