During a visit to Spain in 1958, the writer Barnaby Conrad was badly gored while attending a bullfight. Shortly thereafter, Eva Gabor and Noel Coward dined together at a New York restaurant:
"Noel dahling," Eva remarked, "have you heard the news about poor Bahnaby? He vass terribly gored in Spain." "He was what!?" Coward exclaimed. "He vass gored!" "Thank heavens," Coward replied. "I thought you said he was bored!"
