Shortly after the release of Natalie Imbruglia's hit song "Torn," an enterprising reporter was surprised to discover that the song had in fact been recorded two years earlier, by a Norwegian band. Further research led to further surprises. The song, it seemed, had in fact been originally recorded several years before, by a Danish band. Though Imbruglia had never claimed the song as her own, the music press began to refer to it by another name: "Ripped Off."
