The great Shakespearean actor Robert Speaight once played the title role in a production of Hamlet at the Old Vic. During a particularly violent lunge in a fight scene one evening, Speaight split his tights, inadvertently exposing himself to the sizable audience. Speaight was understandably mortified and his fellow players generously "forgot" about the incident.
After a magnificent performance as King John some time later, Speaight found himself at a urinal in the men's room beside a fellow actor, who desperately searched for something to say to the great Speaight. "By the way, Bobby," he finally remarked, "may I say how much I admired your John?"
