One of the most famous -- and controversial -- goals in hockey history was scored by Montreal Canadiens star Henri Richard at 2:30 of the first overtime period in game six of the Stanley Cup final against the Detroit Red Wings on May 5, 1966. As Richard drove toward the Red Wings net, he lost his balance and slid into Red Wings goalie Roger Crozier. The puck, firmly lodged beneath his arm, somehow managed to slip under Crozier's pad. Though the Red Wings vociferously complained, the referee allowed the series-winning goal to stand.
