Young Cartier-Bresson

Though he was born into a famous French thread-manufacturing dynasty, Henri Cartier-Bresson resolved at an early age to pursue the life of an artiste rather than risk becoming corrupted by the family business. As a boy he once fashioned a ransom-style note from letters clipped from a newspaper and affixed it to his bedroom mirror. "Where," it asked, "does the money come from?"
