Two Buck Chuck

In 2003, Charles Shaw unveiled a range of two-dollar wines (sold exclusively at Trader Joe's stores). Esquire magazine assembled a panel of "wine snobs" to assess the quality of Shaw's tipples, swapping labels with more expensive bottles. Was anyone fooled? Well, not exactly. "It's sweet," one tester remarked of the Two Buck merlot, "like cranberry juice spiked with rubbing alcohol."
