Mike Harmon: Clutch Performance
While racing in Homestead, Florida one day, NASCAR driver Mike Harmon blew a water hose, spilling liquid under his car. When a rear wheel lost traction, Harmon slammed heavily into the wall, breaking both bones in his lower left leg. Six weeks later, he won the Pete Moore 100 at Five Flags in Pensacola -- after duct-taping his broken leg to a piece of sheet metal. He accepted a $5,000 check, on crutches.
