Michelle Branch was inspired to begin writing songs when she was seven years old, after learning that the Beatles song "She's Got a Ticket to Ride" did not, in fact, contain the lyric: "She's Got a Chicken to Ride." "I was heartbroken," she later recalled. "I thought my words were better!"
["I actually have a drawing from first grade of me with a microphone, and it says, 'I wanna be a famous singer when I grow up!'" Branch once recalled. "When I was a kid, I would think, I either want to be a singer... or work at McDonald's. I didn't know."]
