Ted Nolan: Coach of the Year

In 1947, Buffalo Sabres coach Ted Nolan won the NHL's Adams Trophy (for coach of the year). A month later, he was fired.

[Winning the Adams Trophy has proven equally inauspicious for many other coaches. Bill Barber, for example, coached only 136 games before losing his job in Philadelphia. Following is the top 10:

Bill Barber -- 136 games
Ted Nolan -- 164 games
Red Berenson -- 204 games
Orval Tessier -- 213 games
Bobby Kromm -- 231 games
Bob Murdoch -- 240 games
Bob Francis -- 328 games
Don Cherry -- 480 games
Tom Watt -- 490 games
Joel Quenneville -- 532 games]
