Mark Fuhrman: Honorary Journalist
After leaving the LAPD (after being denounced as a racist during the O. J. Simpson murder trial), Mark Fuhrman turned his hand to investigative journalism. His books on the Simpson investigation(Brentwood) and the murder of Martha Moxley (Murder in Greenwich) both became bestsellers and Fuhrman himself was made an honorary member of the Society of Professional Journalists. It was a gesture about which he felt slightly ambivalent. "When I accepted," he later recalled, "I said, 'Thanks, I think I might commit suicide.'"
