Vladimir Demikhov: Sick Puppy?
"The late Russian surgeon Vladimir Demikhov performed the first heart and lung transplants on dogs in 1946, as well as the first coronary bypass. But Demikhov was also one sick puppy. He grafted the upper body of a dog onto another dog, creating a two-headed mutant. The animal lived for 26 days before it had to be put down."
