Ironically, Beach Boys frontman Brian Wilson (who spent most of the years between 1971 and 1975 in bed) was not much of a surfer. "I only ever tried [surfing] once, back in 1963," he later recalled. "I got up on the board, got out onto the water, and fell. The board almost hit me in the head, so I just said, forget this!"
