Honky-Tonk Metal

In 2003, Hank Williams III, son of country music legend Hank Williams, joined Pantera singer Phil Anselmo's thrash-metal band, Superjoint Ritual (whose music has been likened to early Slayer). "It's all about brotherly love and shit," Williams explained of the unusual pairing. Fans apparently agreed. While performing a show in New York one night in July, Williams was amused to observe that several people in the mosh pit were wearing cowboy hats!

[The title of the band's second recording? Lethal dose of American Hatred.]
