For years, Keystone Studios founder Mack Sennett ("The King of Comedy") was Hollywood's leading social luminary. "He'd give a dinner party," producer Walter Wanger once recalled, "and if you didn't take the young lady on your right upstairs between the soup and the entree, you were considered a homosexual."
