Steve Heinze: Stitch Me Up

During a game against the Phoenix Coyotes in November 2000, Columbus Bluejackets right winger Steve Heinze took a vicious slash to the face which earned Coyotes goon Brad May a 20-game suspension. "Stitch me up quick, boys," Heinze instructed trainers in the medical room. "We're on a power play."

The trainers did their job and so did Heinze; he returned to the game, stepped on the ice, and scored a power play goal.

[Columbus coach Dave King was equally tough. After catching an errant puck above his right eye, he refused to go to the dressing room to get stitched up until the period was over.]

[Jarome Iginla once forgot to bring his mouthguard to a game. His oversight cost him one of his teeth.]
