In 2004, Fox News presenter John Gibson accused the BBC of "frothing-at-the-mouth anti-Americanism" and said the network "felt entitled to lie and, when caught lying, felt entitled to defend its lying reporters and executives." When Ofcom, Britain's media regulator, later censured Fox News for failing to show "respect for the truth," the channel cited the 47,200 hits returned by a Google search for "BBC anti-American." Ironically, a Google search for "Fox News anti-American" returned some 48,400 results.
