After a year at the University of Michigan, Michael Moore signed up to work on the assembly line in Flint, Michigan (like his father) but called in sick the first day and never went back. Why did Moore attend the University of Michigan for only one year? He quit one morning, he later recalled, because he couldn't find a parking space.

Moore also dropped out of the seminary (which he joined after eighth grade) for a curious reason. Though he admired the Berrigan brothers and dreamed of effecting social change through the priesthood, the Detroit Tigers had made it to the World Series for the first time in his life and the seminary would not allow him to watch the games!
