Tom Ridge: Politics & Homeland Security

In July 2004, Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge addressed charges that recent terror alerts were being issued by the White House with an eye on the looming presidential election. "We don't do politics," Ridge declared, "in the Department of Homeland Security."

On August 1st, Ridge had this to say: "We must understand that the kind of information available to us today is the result of the president's leadership in the war against terror..."
