Fundamental Indifference?

One wintry night Harry Fosdick was awakened by a young student at his door. Fosdick admitted the young man, who asked him to outline the difference between modernism and fundamentalism.

"Go home and sober up," Fosdick suggested, "and come back when you have slept it off and I will gladly give you the answer." "The trouble is, doctor," the student replied, sobbing, "when I'm sober, I won't give a damn!"
