In 1996, Kathie Lee Gifford was accused of using a Honduras sweatshop to produce her famous clothing lines. Some time later Gifford announced that she and Regis Philbin (her former co-host on "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee," and the man after whom she named her dog) had patched up a long-standing feud and shared a nice dinner and some friendly conversation. Gifford was later asked by reporters who had paid for the meal. "Who do you think?" she snapped. "My sweatshops do really well."
[In February 2000, Kathie Lee Gifford hosted several episodes of "The Late Show." "In case you're wondering," she remarked one night, "I got my dress at a neat little sweatshop downtown."]
