On his way home from an optician's appointment one day shortly after his appearance in Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire limped down the street to his silver Mercedes, drove about 100 yards, came to a screeching halt, scrambled out, doubled over, emptied the contents of his stomach onto a busy Los Angeles sidewalk, wiped his mouth and chin with his T-shirt, and staggered back to his car.
