Teflon Terry

For the cavalry scenes in The Wind and the Lion -- John Milius's great Moroccan epic -- famed stunt coordinator Terry Leonard taught dozens of European riders how to fall on horseback without injuring their steeds. By the time filming wrapped (in 1975), Leonard himself had managed more than one hundred falls without injuring a single horse. He, on the other hand, was not so lucky. "I broke my arm, broke my back, broke my collar bone, got kicked in the face," he recalled, "so I don't know who's smarter -- me or the horses!"
