Selznick & the Czar

As a Jewish boy growing up in Czarist Russia, Lewis J. Selznick (father of legendary producer David O. Selznick) suffered severe persecution and fled to America. Shortly after the overthrow of NicholaS II during the Russian Revolution in 1917, Selznick sent a curious cable to the deposed czar:
