Philip Glass was always very gracious, even with his most zealous admirers. On one occasion, as Glass was leaving the Art Institute of Chicago after a solo piano performance, a young man raced after him -- in a wheelchair. When the man hit a bump and nearly fell out of his chair, he was caught and returned to his chair... by Glass, who gave him an autograph before proceeding to the garage to retrieve his car.
