Mad Brits

At the height of their chart-topping success, Bill Drummond and his partner-in-pop-crime, Jimmy Cauty, publicly disbanded their group the KLF with a violently antagonistic performance before a stunned music-business audience at the 1992 Brit Awards.

After the ceremony, they left a freshly slaughtered sheep at the entrance to the post-awards party, with a tag reading: "I died for ewe. Bon appetit."

[Drummond allegedly had to be dissuaded by Cauty from cutting off his own right hand and tossing it to the stunned audience.]
