Pavlov

In 1879, the famed Russian physiologist Ivan Petrovich Pavlov induced "experimental neurosis" in dogs and discovered the so-called "conditioned reflex." Though he was awarded a Nobel Prize, it was not until 25 years later, and it was not for his pioneering work but for earlier work on the autonomic nervous system -- work which proved to be of very little use.
