Although Jennifer Beals was one of three finalists for the lead in Flashdance, the film's producers could not decide between them.

Their solution? A focus group comprising some 50 men was shown each of the three audition tapes and asked the following question: "With which actress would you most like to sleep?" Beals won by a landslide.
