Famous Father

While campaigning for the New Jersey governorship in 1940, Charles Edison was careful to distance himself from his famous father. "I would not have anyone believe I am trading on the name Edison," he would explain by way of introduction. "I would rather have you know me merely as the result of one of my father's earlier experiments."
