Most of those involved in the production of The Sound of Music were thrilled by the experience. Christopher Plummer (Captain von Trapp) was not, initially, among them. He hated the picture so much that he began to refer to it by another name: The Sound of Mucus.

[Plummer changed his mind after seeing the rushes. "We suddenly realized," actress Anna Lee recalled, "what a gloriously beautiful picture this was."]
