The rest of the crew thought the idea was hilarious and the scene -- which many fans believe to be the film's best -- was duly shot. Only later did they learn the real reason behind the change: Harrison had quietly asked Spielberg if the scene could somehow be shortened -- because he was suffering from a bout of diarrhea.
