Debbie Harry's pioneering band was originally called "Angel and the Snakes." Harry was inspired to changed the name by the countless cat calls which she received as she walked down the street -- many of them from truck drivers yelling: "Hey, Blondie!"

[Harry once remarked that, if she could do her life over again, she would "probably go into the sex industry."]

[By the time The Hunter was released, Blondie was on the verge of splitting up. Only later did they come to realize that the work's hit single, "Island of Lost Souls," appeared to be a metaphor for the band itself. (They broke up in 1982.)]
