In 1930, the novelist Rex Stout, having built (with his own hands) an immense fourteen-room home on a hill overlooking Danbury, Connecticut, invited Frank Lloyd Wright to see it.

When Wright accepted, Stout patiently waited as the architect carefully examined the site. His verdict? "A superb spot -- someone should build a house here."
