After returning from the first-ever multi-manned space flight (with fellow astronaut Gus Grissom) in March, 1965, John Young was reprimanded by NASA for breach of conduct. Shortly thereafter a Congressional investigation was launched...

The problem? Young had smuggled aboard a corned beef sandwich, whose crumbs, floating around in the zero-G environment, had posed a risk to the craft's sensitive machinery (if not to the lives of its pilots).

Ironically, Young did not even enjoy the fruits of his deception. The contraband sandwich was eaten by Grissom!
