Professional photographers rarely ask subjects to "Say Cheese!" The result looks artificial. Instead, they try to capture a natural smile or expression.

The famed portrait photographer Cecil Beaton once told his equally famed colleague David Bailey that he never asked his subjects to say "Cheese". Beaton's preferred approach? He would ask them, instead, to say "Lesbian!"
