Despite his stuffy public image, Quebec premier Maurice Duplessis was a noted bon vivant. Take, for example, this party in 1938 at the Chateau Frontenac:

"Cases of champagne were delivered; unsatisfactory ones were thrown out the fire door. China, stemware and other goods were flung about the room, with the premier proving himself adept at hurling champagne glasses at light fixtures. The party went on in all its boisterousness until early the following morning. By that time, one man had been hurt by flying glass. An aide to the premier led the victim down the fire escape and back into the hotel via the lobby, so that it would seem he had suffered an accident in the street..."
