Farrelly MethodPeter Farrelly (one half of Hollywood's famous Farrelly Brothers) once told fellow screenwriter William Goldman that he and Bobby often deliberately wrote themselves into a corner. "We think if we can go into a corner where there's no way out, and then we take a week or a few days or a month even, and find a reasonable way out without making it absurd, then nobody in the audience is going to sit there and get it within a minute and get ahead of us," he explained. And what, Goldman asked, did they do in that "week or a few days or a month even"? "We just drive," Peter replied. You know, it frees everything up. We just get in the car and drive. I drove across the country fifteen times..."
[At the time of this interview, the Farrellys had made only a handful of films.]
[Trivia: In 1990, Peter wrote the "Virgin" episode for "Seinfeld."]
