Cameras in the Court

A quirky traditionalist, U.S. Supreme Court associate justice David Souter had very few possessions and called himself a Luddite. One day in 1996, he was asked when cameras would be allowed in the SCOTUS (Supreme Court) courtroom. "When," he famously replied, "they roll them over my dead body."

Souter, David Hackett (1939-    ) American jurist, associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (1990- ) [noted for his strong respect for precedent and his cautiously moderate opinions]
